Allegedly, three African American subjects were caught on tape trying to con the CTA passengers on a northbound Red Line train.
Two burly men, and a woman who looks like a manhandled version of singer Mary J. Blige, were apparently working as a team.
Even though the suspicious trio was being filmed, it didn't deter them from participating in what looked like a confidence trick/scam.

A team of three black adults on the CTA have been scamming the public. First, the slight of hand artist will allow his team members to easily win by selecting the correct cap with the ball. Then his team members will blatantly pick the wrong cap and lose making the rest of the train riders think that the game is legit.

ReplyDeleteI'm more concerned about all the chimpouts that take place on the CTA day in and day out. Every time I ride something crazy or threatening happens, usually carried out by blacks. They think the CTA is a playground or a hunting ground.

The showman busts out his caps, and ball. He has his friend guess the cap and wins a 50$
When people get attracted to this and start to bet, he scams them by palming a ball, and there is no winner. They proceed to lose their money. CTA has been looking for this guy for ever. He rides the Red line all the time up and down looking for tourists going to Cubs games and such. One day somebody is gonna cap this motherfucker.

ReplyDeleteI'm just shocked that I've never heard of someone jumping & beating him. Every person on that train should know that this is a scam - and if someone is stupid enough to fall for it, well, I have no sypmathy for that person.
This scam happened to me in 1988 when I was 13. They let me win a dollar and then made me feel guilty for taking their dollar. Having just moved here from a small town, I thought that they worked for the CTA or something as entertainment. I played again, and lost $10.
ReplyDeleteThe game ended, ironically, just as the train was pulling into a stop. The guy hopped out and a concerned bystander (accomplice) told me that it wasn't worth it when I tried to go after him.
For me, $10 was a cheap lesson. It was the last time that I ever trusted any black person that approached me in Chicago again.
That $10 probably saved me hundreds of dollars over the years.

It's incredible that there is documented evidence of this same person doing this for at least four years (and likely, much much longer). Is this his full-time job, or does he do it on the side? And since this income clearly doesn't get reported, is he also collecting on a Link card & getting gov't paid health insurance?
Finally like I mentioned earlier, it's shocking to me that nobody has just pummeled him for doing this. EVERYBODY knows this is a scam.
Does any adult really fall for this? Come on people. Some of you act like you were born yesterday. This has been going on since the begining of time.
ReplyDelete@Big AL: My parents thought that I was at my friend's house. I was actually with a friend, who was a lifelong resident, but that didn't help. We used to take the CTA downtown, to Belmont & Clark, the HIP, the Brickyard, etc. It was an education.
