Man beaten, possibly robbed behind North Side nightclub

A male victim, believed to be in his 40s, was badly beaten in an alley behind a Far North Side gay bar, said police.

Around 5:47 p.m., officers on foot were stopped by a male pedestrian who said his friend was being attacked behind Jackhammer at 6406 North Clark Street, in Rogers Park.

When officers located the victim, he was reportedly bleeding from the head.

Although officers said the incident took place behind the nightclub, an ambulance was sent to the 6400 block of North Paulina Street, about a block west of the originally stated crime scene.

The offender was described as a male black in his 20s with a tall, slender build.

The suspect, who was wearing a black stocking cap and a jacket with a hooded sweatshirt underneath, was last seen running southbound from the alley behind Jackhammer, said police.

Investigators said the victim, who was transported to Weiss Memorial Hospital in Uptown, was in and out of consciousness.

At the time of this report, the motive for the attack wasn’t clear.

However, citing initial police dispatch reports, the victim was probably attacked during a robbery or attempted robbery.

As of 6:40 p.m., the victim was said to be in serious condition.
