Police called to Center on Halsted

Police were called to a Boystown, Lakeview neighborhood community center after an alleged employee reported a man for causing a disturbance.

Around 4:27 p.m., police responded to a person with a gun call at the Center on Halsted at 3656 North Halsted Street.

According to police dispatch, an officer patrolling the Boystown neighborhood was flagged down by someone claiming to be a COH employee.

The alleged employee said a man wearing a black helmet, a red jacket, and carrying a black book bag, said he had a gun.

After a brief investigation, police coded the incident as a 5-Paul (other police service/street disturbance).

A responding officer said a police contact card was completed during their visit at the center.

  3. COH...good intentions bad results. Besides, we all know what the road to hell is paved with. I'm curious just how many "people" actually appreciate all the efforts, freebies and organizations out there that are trying to help them????

  4. They have an armed security guard out front. Why didn't the employee flag him down?

  5. Oh, so they DO have armed security out on the Halsted strip. Good to know. Obviously no deterrent - at all. Good to know. My instinct has been to stay away from that area for the last year. Good to know. Your "friendly" bartender wouldn't tell you that when inquiring about the bloodshed. Just sayin'...... Thanks tho!

  6. There is an armed security guard inside Whole Foods, and an armed security guard stationed outside the entrance to CoH.

  7. I wondered why they had to have a security guard in the Whole Foods while it's - closed. I noticed this while walking home one night. He's armed too? I have a picture of him......asleep. Wanna see it?

  9. That Whole Foods used to have an ATM. Gone now. Strike up a conversation with the coffee person if you want to hear about the CoH.

  10. I will never donate any money to the COH.

  11. I will never spend another $ in on that entire strip. Meanwhile, they're right on "track" with Rosie O'Donnell as she sure is big enough to prop up that crumbling wall called "BOYStown" (in sake of the almighty $).
