I almost bought an engagement ring from those people but decided against it when they refused to find a diamond for me with the specifications I asked for and instead kept insisting I tell them how much money I had to spend. Gotta love the old "how much you got?" Then when they finally showed me a diamond they described it using characteristics that aren't real and also tried the old "which diamond speaks to you" routine.
ReplyDeleteEven though they seemed to be totally dishonest business people that treat every guy looking for an engagement ring like a total tool to be ripped off, they still don't deserve to be robbed. They simply deserve to go out of business the old fashioned way.
"They simply deserve to go out of business the old fashioned way."
ReplyDeleteLMAO @ those comments!
Cool story bro.
ReplyDelete.....kinda like when the car salesman asks the question after you ask how much the car will cost out the door - "well, how much can you afford per month?". Always love that.
ReplyDeleteYour anecdote is a good example of why we have a free marketplace - if you don't like how they are treating you, or are uncomfortable with their tactics, you're free to take your business elsewhere, as you did!
ReplyDeleteI've found that, when dealing with salespeople for big ticket items like cars, expensive jewelry, etc, it's helpful to tell them up front of bad experiences like this that I (presumably) had at another place, and let them know that the bad experience is why I'm now in their shop. I think it puts out there the, "I know I have choices where I can take my money, and if you treat me well, you increase the likelihood that I spend it here."
Sorry to hear this terrible news--I totally disagree with Anonymous I have had only good honest help at Jan Dee and I have been shopping there for many years. I would not consider going to another jeweler.
ReplyDeleteOk Anonymous at 5:48, if you want to get ripped off because some ditz sells you emotions in place of chemistry and geometry then so be it. If you "agree" with getting ripped off then more power to you.
ReplyDeleteBlacks need to stay in the south side. The apes in Lincoln Park zoo act more civilized than these ghetto people. They are also smarter!!
ReplyDeleteI have known the staff at Jan Dee for years and they are the best. They work with you in your price range and sell quality gems. Cant blame them for asking a budget range. Most people want the tens of thousand dollar item but can only afford the thousand dollar item. Best to the staff at Jan Dee.
ReplyDeleteI've purchased from Jan Dee as well and didn't have any problems with her. I found her to be very kind and professional and I got EXACTLY what I wanted.
ReplyDeleteSad that she has become a "statistic" like so many of us.
CONCEALED TO CARRY NOW.
ReplyDeleteThe police need to be more proactive instead of reactive stop the pc-ness. Young black males in hoodlum attire in an upscale neighborhood should be follwed around- watched very very carefully by the cops. We will call them hoodlum patrols(hp). If its a place like uptown look for the bum dressed men of all colors. Also people should try to avoid them(cross the street/ hold your purse extra tight under your arm , look at them evilly, etc) and hide belongings. I mean really what is this young hoodlum doing hanging out at crate and barrel or starbucks their very prescence is suspicous.
There is a lot of section 8 on the north side/downtown too. Landlords will not turn down the guaranteed money. The black hoodlums could be coming from the area, rogerspark, uptown, or downtown.Lets end HUD. Contact your senator/ reps. The red line makes it easy for them to get around. We should have busses and els that only go to one side of town. Busses that only go north and busses that only go south, and have shuttles for people who work or go to school downtown/north. This will save the cta money too.
ReplyDeleteSegregation of blacks and everyone else would be great
