The caller said the men were last seen walking southbound from that location.
Before police could respond to Halsted and Cornelia, a second 911 caller stated a group of men were randomly attacking people at Halsted and Newport.
One of the attackers knocked a phone out of man’s hand, said the caller.
When police arrived at Halsted and Cornelia, they found a robbery victim.
Several male blacks in their teens or early 20s, attacked the man and stole his camera, said police.
Investigators said the offenders were dressed in all black clothing.
At 3:33 a.m., an officer at Halsted and Cornelia asked for a reference number for a 0460.
A 0460 is the police code for a simple battery.
The officer said someone at Halsted and Cornelia was being arrested, but he did not give any specifics.

ReplyDeleteAt 4:23 a.m., a man told 911 he was punched in the face by an unknown offender at 3200 North Halsted - outside Spin nightclub.
The suspect was reportedly wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and brown pants.
What is going on in that neighborhood?!!
We were awoken at 3 am by someone screaming for help on Buckingham near Clark. Was a bunch of thugs and drag queens fighting. Cops arrived quickly. Couldn't tell if anyone was arrested or hurt but woke us from a dead sleep it was that loud. Weird that it was close to the time much of all this was also going down. Never thought I would say this, but I am looking forward to winter so these thugs will go away for a few months. As tough as they think they are, they don't seem to like te cold so much.

Im sorry,,, I realize that there are a bunch of gay bars in the neighborhood,, thats one of the reasons I live here... but I say,, once the bars are closed ,, the police need to sweep the streets,, unless you live here,, get out! All these problems tend to occur in the early hours of the morning,, when no one should be wandering the streets, Im sorry but groups of kids wandering the streets at 430 am are simply looking for trouble.. as they say in the bars, "You dont have to go home, but you cant stay here!"

ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be a better world IF the cops could "sweep" the area after the bars close down and get the bottom feeders out of the neighborhoods? Indeed! BUT, then the ACLU will jump in a scream about it. The bottom feeders will cry discrimination and lawsuits will be the flavor of the day. We have become far to "PC" and "liberal" minded in this city, hell, in this country and this is what we get for it. The "entitlement" mentality has all but destroyed this city. The have nots who do nothing to get what the working stiffs have, simply continue to take advantage of this system breakdown. The judicial system sucks in it's current state and benefits the guilty with slaps on the wrists or giving out way to many probations as punishment. Then, where are the probation officers to follow up on those placed on probation? I have watched this city deteriorate before my eyes from this "PC" crap and watched the users take advantage of the system. While I am not an advocate for segregation, I sure as hell don't think this new system of "integration" is working what so ever! Boystown will be a thing of the past pretty soon, thanks to the "PC" and liberal thinking that prevails in this city and this country, while the ghetto thugs terrorizing EVERY neighborhood laugh their asses off at how gullible we are to listen and respond to the cries of racism, discrimination and amendment violations while we, the innocent citizens are robbed, mugged, raped, burglarized and beaten. If the racial divide is widening, the ghetto thugs created it. If there is profiling, the ghetto thugs created it. Most people I chat with are completely fed up with being victims, with the crime these ghetto thugs create and with the freebies they are given. We are going backwards in our acceptance and tolerance and it's because of the ghetto thugs preying on us all! F#%K PC!
As it is it's starting to feel really good to watch the first half of "American History X". I guess I'll burn in hell but I was headed there anyways.
