Alderman Tom Tunney: Update on July 3, 2011, stabbing on Halsted St. and other news from the 44th Ward

44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney's community email alert:

"Dear Neighbors,

Last Friday, September 16th, I attended the court hearing for the individual charged in the July 3rd (2011) Halsted St. stabbing (on the 3300 block of North Halsted Street).

He remains in police custody and we will continue to monitor the case.

I have also attended additional court hearings for the Belmont stabbing ( on July 16, 2011 on 900 block of West Belmont Avenue) and prostitution in our neighborhood, including a sting operation by 19th District officers near the Belmont station.

I was surrounded by court advocates and our presence sent a strong message to the judge: our community cares about the outcome of these cases.

The next CAPS meeting for Beats 2324 & 2331 is October 5, 2011 at 7:00pm at the
23rd District Police Station (850 W. Addison). Please come and discuss proactive
ways we can keep ourselves and our community safe.

The next CAPS meeting for Beats 2332 & 2333 is October 20, 2011 at 7:00pm at the
Inn at Lincoln Park (601 W. Diversey)."

  1. I almost bought a condo across from the Vic, I'm glad for this website since that formerly nice area is going to *bleep*, it wasn't even that bad with the Diplomat open.

  2. Yeah, Tom. Keep looking out for that Ann Sather property. Don't worry about the rest of us.
