Late Friday evening, two people were shot in the North Side community.
One person was shot in the leg and the other person was shot in the abdomen, said police.
The victims were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston and Illinois Masonic Hospital.
Around 10:56 p.m., police discovered shell casings at 933 West Gunnison Street, Near Gunnison and Sheridan Road.
At 11 p.m., authorities interviewed a witness at Argyle and Sheridan.
The shooter was described as a male black, 5'9" to 5'10", wearing an orange and white hooded sweatshirt.
Thanks to section 8 and welfare roaches, Uptown has become one of the worst north side neighborhoods in Chicago. What a shame.
ReplyDeletefitz i think someone is stealing info from your site and pretending their "readers" told them about it. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe black shooters/gangsters/freeloaders/parolees/illiterates in Uptown are out of hand. Someone need to call Orkin. The roaches are taking over!

ReplyDeleteNot surprised at the shooter being black, but... orange and white hooded sweat shirt? Pretty loud colors for a "gangsta" to wear late at night. The dumb animal must really want to be caught!

ReplyDeleteDude, it would be my pleasure to call Orkin on the welfare roaches! Unfortunately, I think they are closed right now. =( Maybe a bucket of Raid will do... for now!
I used to be a longtime Uptown resident, but the gun violence drove me out.
ReplyDeleteOne Spring day, I was walking down Broadway, northbound towards Wilson, when shots were fired. That was the final nail in the coffin.
I still live up this way, and in less then two weeks (estimating here) this is I think the third shooting in the 20th district alone. We are not even really into summer, I think that it is going to be a long one. I really hope that we do not loose cops to other areas otherwise the gangs will just get more control.
ReplyDeleteRach, the Uptown thugs already have control of that neighborhood. People are living in fear, property values are plummeting, and blood is being spilled on nearly every street. The terrorist bastards have taken over. Uptown is under siege. Mark my words, it's only going to get worse.
ReplyDeleteI use to be a subjected to Uptown when I was taking courses at Truman College a few years back. I made a mistake one semester and opted for some night classes, and one night after class, the black thugs that normally post up across the street in front of Popeye's, started shooting at each other. I happen to be on the Red Line platform waiting for the train when this was happening. It was pretty crazy! Thankfully, I ended up transferring to Oakton College the following semester.
ReplyDeleteWelfare roaches RUIN everything!!
In the past decade or so many condo buildings have gone up in Uptown. Lots of middle class working people bought into the area since it was slightly more affordable than elsewhere. I wonder if things like this could cause them to throw in the towel and just try to get out? It'd be a great tragedy if the underclass managed to ruin yet another neighborhood.
ReplyDeletePete, I have spoken with several condo owners in Uptown, and they want to get out of that neighborhood as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it. If NYC can get cleaned up, why can't the CPD clean up a 1 sq mi area? It's a shame. I used to go to Big Chicks and Tweet frequently...now, I stay in Aville and Rogers Park.
ReplyDeleteChicagoRob, I haven't been to Big Chicks since the late 80s. When I lived in the area, I used to walk by there almost every day, but I never went in.
ReplyDeleteI hate to sound like a pessimist, but I think it may be too late to save Uptown. The gangs have a strong foothold, and the politicians are not going to do what it takes to get rid of them. There is now way they are going to shut down every section 8 building and SRO in the area.
This is why I moved out of Uptown. I used to live on Gunnison, but moved out last July. I used to walk through Gunnison/Sheridan everyday. Glad that wasn't me that got shot.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous, in the good old days, the only streets I avoided in Uptown were Wilson/Broadway (at certain times of the day) and the corner of Agatite and Hazel, which was known for a lot of drug/gang activity.
That's a shame I lived in uptown basically my whole life and its never going to change
ReplyDeleteThis is what ALL the aderman/alderwomen NEED to be doing! Good going Harry:)

"Regarding last night’s shooting on the 900 block of Gunnison, Ald. Osterman has been in contact with the 20th District commander, and she has indicated that additional tactical officers will be detailed from Area 3 to address the recent gang violence in Uptown. Additionally our office will be working with the city to fix the lights that are out on Gunnison and to have the trees trimmed on the block."
