Shots fired in Uptown, police search for shooter

If you heard gunfire in Uptown this morning, you are not alone.

At 3:22 a.m., several citizens reported gunshots near the corner of Sheridan Road and Agatite Avenue on Chicago’s North Side.

Police interviewed a witness at a CTA bus stop near Sheridan and Montrose, who also heard the shots.

A second bystander told authorities a silver car was seen speeding southbound on Sheridan Road from Windsor Avenue, around the time of the shooting.

No injuries or property damage was reported.

Investigators gave no indication shell casings were found in the area.

    Uptown's name should be changed to "Tombstone" because it has become the wild wild west. I hope the new "Marshall" in the neighborhood starts cleaning the place up. Start by checking out ALL those SRO'S and SEC 8's to make sure they are complying with the rules of the CHA. Start inspecting those SRO'S for code violations. Start holding the landlords who house these ghetto thugs, drug dealers, users and prostitutes responsible for their tenants. Introduce a bill in the city counsel to change the loitering laws. START DOING SOMETHING!

    Towanda & Timothy, I agree with both of you completely. C.P. I dont know Lorelai, but I know Lawrence House too well. Hopefully the court date on the 30th of this month will go in favor of the residents. I would mention how I feel about the owners, but there is not enough space in this comment box.
