Baby Dead in Lakeview

Chicago News Report has learned that a baby injured on the 3900 block of North Ashland Avenue in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, has died.

I became aware of this incident around 8 p.m. this evening, when a 911 caller indicated she harmed her child.

According to 911 police dispatch records, the caller said... "It's too late. Something has happened to the baby."

Postpartum depression was also mentioned during the 911 call.

Chicago police officers confirmed there is a crime scene on the 3900 block of North Ashland Avenue. A police evidence technician was called to the scene to collect evidence.

The baby was rushed to Thorek Memorial Hospital, 850 West Irving Park Road, where the child was pronounced dead.

Apparently, the child's mother is still at the hospital.

Information obtained by Chicago News Report suggests an arrest was made at Thorek Hospital.

The baby was 8-months-old.

  1. This is so tragic. Was this woman married? Did she go to the dr.'s? What about her family? Did no one see this? It's soo sad when women have the "baby blues", it's missed and a child suffers because no one saw it happening. Meds could have prevented this. RIP little one.

  2. I don't know if she was married, but she and the baby's father were at Thorek Hospital, together.

At the time, the cops were trying to figure out how and when to make the arrest.
