That's what they all fricking say, "he was a good boy", "he didn't do drugs", "he was a family man"...anybody can sucker their family members and live a double life. The police can't arrest known "criminals" for known activity. The criminals must be caught, while the illegal activity(ies) is/are occurring.
In Chicago, we have the added "bonus" of Daley and the "revruns" commanding the police via Weis. If Burge, Ibatte, Austin 7, over crowded jails, Lincoln Park/Winnetka type liberals, ultra liberal judges and ultra liberal jurors are added to the "mix", one can understand why the criminal justice system is so "appropriately" named.
Maybe this is too obvious a question, but why exactly do journalists always try to get a quote from suspect family members? The quotes are rarely interesting or unexpected--I mean, is his mother/sister/uncle/cousin going to say "Ah, he's a scumbag!" What is the point in asking the family to comment, other than to invite angry comments on the article web page?

This man was a cold blooded murderer and was taking care of his family with the money he stole from the dealers he scammed and than MURDERED! He deserves NO RESPECT! This man TERRORIZED and entire neighborhood and, thankfully, those walking about Sat. night didn't get hit by stray bullets when HE BEGAN FIRING AT THE POLICE. All I can say is there is ONE less evil person roaming around. He got what he deserved. His family, on the other hand, should be given some respect. But how about YOU showing some respect for the people he terrorized in the neighborhood and the 2 people he MURDERED????

First, I NEVER mentioned the term "Mexican" and second, this man was not killing people just because they were drug dealers. As far as the term "victim" goes, sadly it applies to the people he murdered because they were not "suspects". The police were watching IBARRA NOT the people he murdered. It is too bad that we have to refer to the drug dealers murdered as "victims" but it is what it is.

For the people who are getting mad because others dont believe that Arturo was a GOOD man, get over it! Think of all the families that LOST their loved ones because of this IBARRA guy. I NEVER wish death on anyone, but I lost some one close to me and my family, who was a great father, friend, uncle, and who always tried to help others because of ARTURO IBARRA! So no sympathy from me for his family! There are SO many children with out fathers now becuase of these monsters! Remember there is one man still alive who has to be reminded everyday about this horrible thing!

Wow, funny how all the family memebers, including the wife of ibarra, keep saying they wear these GREAT, HARD WORKING MEN, supported their families, they made $18/hr... blah blah blah keep talking. CPD couldnt arrest them because they probably needed STRONGER evidence. You are saying that he was a "GOOD" man yet, he was crashing his truck into parked cars, shooting at police officers, and killing and robbing people. He would go back home to his kids, and spend this money on them. His wife said it her self, "HE WOULD TAKE THEM TO THE MOVIES AND MALL EVERY WEEKEND FAITHFULLY!", Her cousin said to the press, how they had, "MONEY" yeah the money they took after they killed all these people.
