  1. I'm quite sure there was water on those steps. Seem the roof leaks or something. On the other hand, I read an article a few months ago that stated the "CTA DOES NOT HAVE TO MAINTAIN the platforms by shoveling or salting" so I guess removing water from stairs is out of the question. I had to go that route to get to O'hare and personally, I find the tunnel and stairs disgusting and subject. The smell of urine in some of these CTA stations makes me want to puke!

When I read that my jaw dropped. One more reason I stay away from CTA trains and subways.

  3. In winter, I check the subway platform conditions BEFORE I ride. :)

  4. Seems the CTA doesn't have to maintain much. Just take a look at the sorry condition of some of the stations along the red line, the most traveled line in the system. Evanston maintains their stations fairly well but I'm not sure if they depend on Chicago money to do that? Belmont, possibly the busiest above ground stop(?) looks great now but also seems to have added more of the criminal element. I would have thought by closing the Diplomat it would have decreased the crime a bit but it seems much worse now. Are there more SRO's and Sec 8 in the Lakeview area than there were? BRING THE DOGS BACK! Does anyone know it TOM TUNNEY is addressing this?
