Patient Who Pulled Gun at St. Mary’s Hospital, Possibly Involved in Second Crime

A patient who was discharged or was in the process of being released, pulled a gun at a Wicker Park hospital.

The incident occurred at St. Mary’s Hospital, 2233 West Division Street, around 3 p.m.

The gun-wielding man, who is believed to be mentally ill, fled the scene. Police have been frantically searching for him since he left the hospital.

Around 5:30 p.m., police searched the offender’s home on the 2700 block of North Lockwood, in the Belmont-Cragin area. The suspect wasn’t home, and an officer on the scene said the apartment door was open and the place was in disarray. “It looks like someone is moving out,” said the officer.

At 6:56 p.m., a man on the 2800 block of West Diversey called police after a white man wearing a black coat and blue jeans, pulled a gun and hit him in the face.

Authorities said the complainant’s  description of the suspect, matched the patient who pulled a gun at St. Mary’s hospital.

The offender is also wanted for a crime in Phoenix, Arizona.
