Essence Jefferson: Missing 16-year-old High School Student (Found)

UPDATE: Essence Jefferson has been found. She is resting safely with her family.

16-year-old Essence Jefferson, a University of Illinois at Chicago College Prep School student, is missing.

Her family and friends are extremely worried, because Essence has never run away before, and the fact that she is no longer answering her cell phone is completely out of character.

I contacted the 16-year-old's family through one of her friends and learned that the last time anyone spoke to her, was December 9, 2010, around 10 p.m.

During that last contact, Essence told a friend she was lost and was trying to find her way home. After that, anyone trying to reach the teen went straight to voice mail.

The 16-year-old cheerleader is described as 4'11", 105 lbs, has brown eyes and black hair. Essence was last seen wearing a black and multi-colored fleece jacket, a blue shirt, jeans, a black scarf, UGG boots, and carrying a blue canvas shoulder bag.

If you know anything about Essence's disappearance, please call police at (312) 747-8274, or 911.
