Two customers were robbed at a downtown coffeehouse and the thieves took what seems to be on every mugger's Christmas list.
The robbery occurred around 6:39 p.m., at the Starbucks at 42 East Chicago Avenue, near the intersection of East Chicago Avenue and North Wabash Avenue.
According to police, two teenage boys stole the victims’ iPhones.
One offender was wearing a dark jacket and a black knitted cap. The second crook was wearing a dark blue jacket. Both suspects fled westbound on East Chicago Avenue.
If more information on the offenders becomes available, I will update this article accordingly.

Let me guess...this starbucks is close to the McDonalds where a whole lot of homeless hang out from the YMCA, which has pretty much turned into an SRO but they are pretty strict about who they "lease" to. At least they used to be. Still, that area has become just a little sketchy. Not even sure why McDonalds lets these people hang out there all the time. It's like trouble waiting to happen.
ReplyDeletetowanda, I haven't been in that McDonald's in years! I stopped going there because of all the undesirables hanging around the place.
ReplyDeleteI think the last time I actually went inside that restaurant was in the mid 90's.
Trust me, my mama didn't raise a fool and I stay way clear of places like that. I like my life and I don't go where the area or situation could be trouble, even though I used to live on Bellevue
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly, in the 80's, the crowd at that McDonald's was much different. During the day, especially on weekends, I used to see a lot of families dining there. I used to eat there before catching a movie or after I was done shopping.
ReplyDeleteBy the time the 90's rolled around everything changed. I wonder what happened.
I think the YMCA changed quite a bit. They now work with Thresholds and house some of their clients. Other than that, I really don't know. There are a couple of SRO's down around Ohio & State and Ohio & wells. Maybe they just walk to that McDonalds. Also, one panhandler I was talking to down there said he lived way on the south side and comes down to that area because, and this is a quote, "this is where the money is. You don't think the "brothers" are going to help me out do you"? Nice.
