Off-duty Chicago Police Officer Shot and Killed in Wrightwood was a Gang Hit?

On November 22, 2010, around 6:30 p.m., an off-duty Chicago police officer was shot and killed in his SUV on the 2900 block of West Seipp Street, in Chicago's Wrightwood neighborhood.

Several news sources are reporting that the officer was shot from the inside of his vehicle. And according to CBS Chicago, the dead policeman's service weapon was missing from the crime scene.

Although the slain officer's name has not been released, we do know that he was a veteran police officer and a current member of the SWAT unit.

So far, everyone is calling this a robbery turned deadly. Maybe. But I'm not so sure.

On November 15, 2010, I published an article indicating the Black Disciple street gang put a hit on Chicago police officers. Officers were told to use extreme caution when working near the Parkway Gardens housing complex, located at 6415 South Calumet Avenue.

Even though this officer's shooting took place farther west and farther south of Parkway Gardens, the Black Disciple street gang has a strong presence in the Wrightwood neighborhood.

This officer is the fourth cop to be shot to death in Chicago in 2010.

  3. Its so sad to see and hear what is happening in our city and our world. Where is the respect for law enforcement? Better yet, where is the love and respect for human kind?? It saddens me to know that we are living in such a violent and angry world. People have distant themselves from religion. We need to let God back into our lives. I fear for our childrens future... May God Bless the officer's family in this time of sorrow.

  4. No offense @sadgirl but, Oh yes, reading the bible and praying to an imaginary being will take care of our crumbling world in NO time.

    1. Yes, corruption (We live in Chicago, U.S.A. remember?!) must've been involved in SOME way for the cop to let the killer in the car, especially if he didn't even live in that neighborhood.

    2. It's all about education-how children are raised and how they are taught.

I'm an atheist and I am immensely more moral and ethical than the rest of my Catholic family and religious friends/acquaintances. I have accomplished so much, not because of "God", but because of leading a life full of reason, logic, and honesty. That's what we all REALLY need.
