Man struck by CTA train at Edgewater Red Line station

Citing police dispatch reports, a male passenger was hit by a CTA train at a North Side Edgewater neighborhood “L” stop.

The incident happened around 10:33 p.m.

However, the exact location of the apparent accident has yet to be determined.

One dispatch report said the man was struck at the Bryn Mawr  “L” at 1119 West Bryn Mawr Avenue; another report indicated the incident happened at the Berwyn "L", 1121 West Berwyn Avenue. 

According to an officer at the scene, it appears the man fell into the side of an oncoming train.

Per the last update, the injured man was lying on the platform, in a state of semi-consciousness. He was later transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital in stable condition.

  2. ^As unsafe and narrow as some of those platforms are, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.
