In the wake yesterday's violent assault at a Far North Side Chicago park, the Chicago Police Department is sending a clear message to the criminals in the Rogers Park neighborhood.
Sunday, April 10, 2011, around 5:20 p.m., a man was struck in the head with a baseball bat at Paschen Park at 1932 West Lunt Avenue. The incident occurred near a basketball court in the park.
Police said several Hispanic men driving a white Suburban were involved in the attack.
The man who actually struck the victim in the head with the bat, was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with gold letters on it and a hat, said police.
Although police detained and questioned a suspect at Warren Park, 6601 North Western Avenue; it’s unclear if anyone has been arrested for the crime.
According to an anonymous comment left in response to my initial article, “Man hit in the head with a baseball bat at North Side Rogers Park park”, the offenders responsible for the baseball bat attack at Paschen Park, also tried to attack someone at 1500 West Lunt, near Lunt and Greenview.
In response to Sunday's violence, an outdoor police roll call is scheduled at Paschen Park, today at 7 p.m.
Please show up and support our police department. Let them know that you appreciate their efforts to keep us safe.
Tentative date for a neighborhood meeting to further discuss this and "problem solve" with the police is Monday, April 25 at Paschen Park Field House (probably around 7 pm).

Where is Joe Moore about this incident??? No email from his office about this, no email from the 49th ward office! My 4 year old daughter plays at this park at least 3 times a week. My husband witnessed two young men smoking a joint, openly, on a park bench that faces the childrens' lot just a day before this incident. This is all being kept conveniently quiet. This makes me furious.
