I never understand these accidents on LSD..unless, of course, that's what they're on:) Isn't the speed limit 45 on LSD? Last year, it seemed, there were a few in this same area. Might help if people got off their phones, stopped texting, stopped drinking & driving and didn't drive stoned..oh, and there's always doing the speed limit. What a concept!
ReplyDeleteThat is a scary corner to get off the bus coming from downtown there at Roscoe. There is nothing separating you and the speeding cars on the outer drive other than their driving skills and a very short curb. I've lived just off that corner on Roscoe for the last year and a half and it sometimes makes me nervous getting off there to get home. A guard rail there would be nice.
ReplyDeleteJust a note, the inner drive is the one which runs locally and is on the west side of the street whereas the outer drive is the side closer to the lake and is an express lane(s). The route 146 is the Inner Drive/Michigan bus and the 147 is the outer drive express bus. The 146 is what I would take to work and those buses were delayed while they scraped that poor driver off the road this morning. The buses were running normally by 7:45. The bus stop on the east side of the street was demolished. If this had happened an hour later it would have taken out a lot more cars on the inner drive because it gets quite backed up with cars trying to get on to LSD at Belmont.
Towanda, the speed limit there is 40mph which they permanently lowered several years ago in response to the cost to raise and lower the speed limits every winter and summer. This road is a drag strip for hotrods and motorcycles at 2 in the morning where the kids on the bikes are going at least 80 to 100 mph. I envy their nerve and ability to achieve that speed but really they are idiots with a death wish which of course I do not envy in the least. The CTA bus drivers on LSD are pretty bad as well. I've watched as the driver gets it up to 55 (I assume they have governors which prevents them from going faster), that can't be safe.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering the other day when was the last time I saw a car OR motorcycle pulled over for speeding, not only on LSD, but ANYWHERE and guess what? I couldn't remember. If we have laws that aren't enforced, than what's the point? If the city wants to get out of the red, than try enforcing these laws and fine people. At least it's a start! Oh, I forgot, the police are too busy dealing with the crime all over this city.."which is down"...and costs taxpayers millions of dollars and brings NOTHING in.
