He doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of becoming mayor, but Chicago mayoral candidate James Meeks is proving to be a constant source of entertainment. You never know what foolishness is going to ooze from this man's lips.
Wednesday, during an African-American radio show on WVON, Meeks showed his true colors when he boldly declared that woman, Asians, and Hispanics are not minorities.
Meeks was responding to the question of whether or not the aforementioned groups, should be allowed to participate in minority set-aside city contracts.
Here's the full quote from Fox Chicago News:
“I think that the word ‘minority,’ from our standpoint, should mean African-American. I don’t think women, Asians and Hispanics should be able to use that title. That’s why our numbers cannot improve, because we use women, Asians and Hispanics, who are not people of color, who are not people who have been discriminated against. We fought for these laws based on discrimination. Now, groups that have not been discriminated against are the chief beneficiaries.”
Mayoral candidate Gery Chico, who strongly disagreed with Meeks, said Hispanics are being heavily discriminated against throughout the United States.

Are you kidding me? Is this guy for real? Maybe his flock should tell him not to open his mouth. Gays are going to hell, only blacks are minorities, school vouchers for only black kids...what's next, his flock is the only flock going to heaven? What a joke this guy is. Are they still looking for a new BOZO?
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to educate Meeks on the Webster definition of minority and a reminder that women have been fighting prejudices since the beginning of time..starting with "Adam & Eve" so the black population DOES NOT have the corner on that. What kind of education does this man have? Sounds like he never finished grade school.
ReplyDeletea : a group of people who are different from the larger group in a country, area, etc., in some way (such as race or religion)

ReplyDeleteWomen are the larger group in the United States. The last census found about 5 million more women than men residing in the US. Not that I agree with Meeks on set asides, but women are not a minority. They are an historically oppressed group.
I didn't say women were a minority. I was referring to this comment Meeks made, "We fought for these laws based on discrimination", which is why I mentioned the "Adam & Eve" thing. We didn't get the right to vote in this country until 1920 and the so called "glass ceiling" didn't start cracking until the last few decades, if that long ago. So no, Blacks do not have the corner on discrimination and no where in the definition does it say "black"
ReplyDeleteThe US Government decides which group is a minority. Historically, Japanese and Jews were considered "minority".
ReplyDeleteA fool representing fools.
ReplyDeleteThe tard looks and sounds uneducated. He's the perfect candidate for his peeps. LOL
ReplyDeleteYea, because blacks are the only ones who matter in this country...go f yourself, stooge.
