Yasha Hicks Killed in Possible DUI Accident in Englewood

On November 6, 2010, around 2:15 a.m., 35-year-old Yasha Hicks and a friend were crossing the street on the 7300 block of South Racine Avenue, when a motorist struck her.

Hick’s sister, Takia Banks, told Chicago News Report that her sister was in the middle of a sentence, when she suddenly stopped talking. Hick’s friend turned around just in time to see the loving mother of five children, being tossed into the air by the impact of vehicle.

Hicks was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced dead at 2:42 a.m.

We asked Hick’s sister to tell us more about her sibling, here is what she shared with us, “She was a sweet, loving person and a good mother. She would do anything for her family. Yasha had recently went back to school, to do one of the things she love to do, and that's hair."

As of yet, no funeral arrangements have been made.

Police have a 36-year-old man in custody. It is believed that he may have been driving under the influence at the time of the deadly accident. So far, none of the mainstream media outlets have released his name or announced any criminal charges.
