Hit and run: Little girl struck by car on South Side

The details are sketchy, but a female victim, described by police as a "little girl", was hit by a car on Chicago's South Side, said authorities.

The girl was struck by a vehicle near 7809 South Hermitage Avenue in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood, said officials.

According to police dispatch, the hit and run occurred around 6:40 pm., Sunday evening.

As a result of hitting the child, the offending vehicle, a silver four-door Oldsmobile, has front hood damage and a broken windshield, said one source.

No further details are available.

  1. This is a tragic accident that didn't need to happen and the coward who left the scene, when caught, needs to be punished to the full extent of the law. On the other hand, children should be taught to not run out into the street, to look both ways before they cross. Simple things that could prevent accidents like this. Sadly, now she will know to do that.
    I hope she's going to be ok.
