A Chicagoan’s Perspective on Dr. Laura’s ‘Racist’ Rant
I usually agree with Dr. Laura’s perspective. Her straight from the hip, no bs advice, is usually right on the money. Not this time. This time, Dr. Laura let her personal feelings cloud her judgment.
When Jade, an African-American caller asked Dr. Laura for advice on how to handle her white husband’s, perceivably racially insensitive friends, Dr. Laura practically exploded. In a backhanded fashion, she called the woman hypersensitive, a hypocrite, and bashed her over the head with the n-word, at least 11 times.
Dr. Laura’s defense? Well, she used several strategies. First, she said a lot of black people voted for Obama, because he is half black. And if that is true, we can also assume that a lot of white people voted for John McCain, because he’s white.
Then, the good doctor trotted out the obligatory “black friend”. You know. The one everyone has hanging around in their closet, collecting dust, just in case they need to prove they aren’t a racist. Hilarious? Wait! It gets even better!
Dr. L’s foot-in-mouth disease took a drastic turn for the worse, when she foolishly tried to justify the racist usage of the word n*gger, by belaboring the ridiculous point that black comedians use the n-word in their stand-up routines.
Excuse me. Whatever happened to the belief that two wrongs don’t make a right?
Listen to Dr. Laura make a fool of herself:
