Update: The victim was also shot in the buttocks. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
3:50 am --- After shots were fired at 55th and Halsted, Chicago police officers were in hot pursuit of a possibly stolen vehicle. The vehicle went northbound on Union. At some point, the driver bailed and officers were able to apprehend the passenger.
The driver, described as an African-American male, dark complexion, 5' 9", 150 lbs, dressed in dark jeans, a white t-shirt, and a baseball cap - fled on foot. Officers believe the suspect may have tossed his gun during the car chase, and was hiding in the 5300 of south Lowe.
As I type this article, police are searching the area with dogs. So far, the driver has not been captured.
